EMT 930 + EMT 929 + Stanton 500
⭕ The EMT 930 Professional Record Player was manufactured by EMT Wilhelm Franz AG of Germany between 1955 and 1983.The same company is still operating today as EMT Studiotechnik GmbH.
The EMT930 was conceived as a smaller version of the very high quality EMT 927 Professional Record Player which had appeared in 1950,and had been developed by EMT in co-operation with the German Broacasting Technology Institute.
The EMT 930 were not only turntable, but complete record playing systems, comprising turntable and drive system, tonearm, cartridge and integrated preamplifier/equaliser.The latter provided audio output at professional level(+6dbU, or 1.55V rms fully balanced and earth-free into 600Ohm load).
On the EMT 930,speeds of 33 1/3,45 and 78rpm,and a 12-inch turntable, allowed the reproduction of all the music records to be found in radio station libraries in the 1960s.The preamplifier provided switchable equalisation curves to cover the various different standards used by record companies at the time.Special features of the Record Player also allowed instant pause, and almost instant start of a pre-cued selection by local or remote control, the latter usually from the radio stations on-air program console.
The EMT arm for the 930 was the EMT 929.
The original EMT 139 A mono preamplifier was superseded with the introduction of stereo by the EMT 139st,and later by the EMT 139 st b.Naturally, the 1950s and 1960s preamplifiers used valve technology, the mono units using pentodes and the stereo units double triodes. In 1967,EMT replaced the 139st b with the transistorised EMT 155st.By the early 1970s most radio stations were only playing stereo records recorded to the RIAA standard, making the stereo/mono selection and equalisation curve selection controls unnecessary. So EMT offered an alternative preamplifier without external controls, the EMT 153,which used integrated circuit technology.
