WESTERN PARADE Or SHOW SADDLE. STERLING SILVER, 14k GOLD
⭕ Here is a stunning vintage Western Parade Saddle. This is fully hand tooled and simply loaded with KEYSTON BROS. marked STERLING SILVER and 14 KARAT GOLD Horseheads.
Nearly every piece of silver is stamped on the back with the Keyston Bros. stamp showing Sterling Silver. All of the large piceces with the Gold Horseheads are also marked Keyston Bros. 14K 1/10 Sterling Silver. There are several pounds of Sterling on this saddle and over a full ounce of Gold. The leather on the saddle is in very nice condition. This can be shown tomorrow. All the leather is handtooled in a Oak Leaf patter with a Bronc Rider tooled on the fenders. None of the silver has been applied over tooling. This is all original as you see it.
Some of the stitching on the Breast Collar is loose and needs to be redone. Also, some of the straps on the Breast Collar and Bridle have torn and will need to be repaired by your saddle maker. All the basics are there and quite spectacular. There is not that much to repair and it can be easily done by a professional. Sheepskin saddle lining needs a bit of repair to be perfect.
This saddle was made without a silver horn cap on the Pelican horn and it was made without a silver cantle. It has a 16 seat. The blevins buckles are marked with the Al Ray name and patent number (1938). The seat is pattern stitched and smooth. It is very comfortable. This outfit was probably made in the Late 1940s or early 1950s. This comes with the original Corona pad. It is all leather with a sheepskin lining. The Silver Bit is also old and looks to be a customized or reworked Fleming. The reins are are in great shape with matching sterling silver buckles. The saddle makers marking is The Horseman shop. I have been told they were a marketer of high quality leather from around the WWII and later era from Central Calif. If anyone has any definitive information on this name, please let me know. Keyston Bros. needs no introduction. Their work is top notch. You will recognize the horse head design work if you are familiar with their work. The 5 pointed Texas stars behind the horse heads is a real nice touch and not commonly seen. This has never had taps and from the look of the stirrups, not much use at all.
With a bit of repair work, you can own an absolutely one of a kind show or parade saddle outfit. You could have fit right in for last years Rose Parade with this.
