⭕ It is one of the very first 900 series Monettes ever made.Dave spent a considerable amount of time with me when I picked up the completed instrument at his shop,carefully adjusting the horn and the Monette
B 2 mouthpiece I selected to use with the horn.At the time,Dave made a 935 and a 937 model Bb trumpet.I choose the 935 model because it was advertised as being excellent for both classical and jazz,and as being the best model for playing with other trumpeters not using Monette equipment.It was also the best horn if playing in small or dead rooms was ever required.The 937 model was said to be best when played in large and/or live halls.The 935 sounded more versatile and seemed to best fit my needs.Over the years Daves assessment has turned to be correct: no problems blending with non-Monette equipment, and easy to hear myself even in dead sounding rooms.
This trumpet weighs over 4 pounds and has a 5 5/8 inch bell.It is in perfect condistion with no damage or repairs ever.The valves are like new and more air-tight than any other trumpet I have ever played.I have maintained it religously,and the inside of the horn is almost completely deposit free.It goes without saying that there is not the slightest hint of red-rot anywhere.
This Monette 935 model trumpet plays wonderfully,and while I have tried out many of Dave Monettes more recent instruments,I still prefer the 935 for all-around playing.The sound can be huge or whisper quiet- your choice.It has a rich and brilliant sound,and is extremely well in tune.Over the years other players have told me I sound the best on the Monette trumpet as compared to other trumpet brands I have played.In trying to describe the response of this instrument,the term power steering is what comes to mind.High or low,loud or soft,the horn practically plays itself.It has the slotting Monettes are famous for,yet it is still very flexible and responsive.It also has an unbelievable upper register.You may want to warn the neighbors!
The trumpet comes with a modified Pro-Pac double case,which has protected the horn well during my 20 years of ownership.I am also including the Monette B-2
